Hi! My name is Emily and I’m a private chef living in San Diego. I focus on creating custom nutrient-dense meals for my clients who range from young families to professional athletes.
Growing up Italian and Jewish, I’ve been surrounded by comfort foods and rich culinary traditions my entire life. After earning my BA in Journalism, I went on to become a food writer and editor of a millennial-geared lifestyle website for a few exciting years. After immersing myself in the food media landscape of New York City, writing about my food adventures, and experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, I made a huge career pivot and enrolled in culinary school. At the Institute of Culinary Education, I learned classic and modern techniques while building up the confidence to dive headfirst into the kitchen. Throughout my travels and experiences working as a private chef, I’ve picked up ideas, dishes, and ingredients that inspire me and influence the food I make every day.
In October of 2020, a variety of health issues led me to seek help from a holistic nutritionist. It felt like my lifestyle was finally catching up with me and I was ready for a big change. My nutritionist put me on a journey toward healing my body from the inside out, starting with my gut. Through an anti-inflammatory diet, I’ve become inspired to make nutrient-dense dishes, disguised as comfort food. Even the healthiest dishes can be indulgent with the right techniques and creative, clean ingredients. I love to share ingredient-forward recipes with my clients that help them to feel their absolute best.
